First Responders

Kim Brown is the loyal wife of the now Sergeant First Class Bob Brown. In the first season, she and Bob, then a Staff Sergeant, are new arrivals to the Unit. At first, she is confused by the new rules of the wives of Unit team members, but soon Jonas Blaine's wife, Molly, takes Kim under her wing and shows her the ropes.

In the first season, Kim becomes pregnant with her second child; she and Bob also have a daughter named Serena. In order to help to provide for their growing family, and to keep herself occupied, she takes a job at a local radio station known as KTML "The Missile". Between the 1st and 2nd seasons of the show their son, Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt Brown, is born.

Her closest friend in the group is Tiffy Gerhardt, although Kim sometimes will distance herself from Tiffy due to the bad decisions that Tiffy continually seems to make.

While working as a DJ at KTML, Kim's show becomes highly popular, often taking calls for requests, advice, and conversation. One day she receives a phone call from a suicidal Army wife whose husband is deployed. She manages to stay on the line with the woman after she consumed a lethal dose of sleeping pills, and repeatedly attempts to convince the woman to explain where she is. Bob, who was being promoted that afternoon, appears at her station upset that she broke her promise to accompany him. When her station manager explains to Bob that someone's life is in Kim's hands, Bob starts making phone calls to help. Eventually the woman hangs up without giving away her location, and Bob jumps into action making phone calls that will trace her location. Ultimately Kim and Bob put their heads together and use what little information the woman described over the phone to pinpoint her location in a military graveyard and find her collapsed near a grave. First responders are able to render assistance and save the woman's life in time.

Between season 3 and 4 Kim's 2nd daughter, Emily, is born. In Episode 4.22 Bob has first met Emily in person. Despite being the youngest Unit wife, she and Bob have the most kids, three: Serena, Theodore, and Emily.

Over the course of Season Four Kim, along with the other Unit wives and the Unit members themselves are relocated off-base and given new identities after a far reaching terrorist plot against the United States puts the whole Unit in jeopardy. Unlike Tiffy whose daughters are old enough to not jeopardize their cover, Bob and Kim's children are taken from them and sent to live with her parents until the Army deems it safe for them to reunite.

Bob and Kim are given the new surname "Cahill" and after a while Kim, agreeing to assist the Unit, takes a nanny position with the terrorist organizations accountant Isaac Reed. Caring for the Reed's infant daughter allows her with the separation from her own children, though it also makes her miss them more at times.

With Bob's cover as a salesperson for the Units shell company Aerodyne Alliance, his deployment on missions is seen as international business travel, leaving Kim alone to watch the Reed's baby at their house. Isaac sees Bob's absence as problematic for Kim and develops feelings for her. In the interest of maintaining cover and helping the Unit, Kim allows the flirtation to continue, though she ultimately is faithful to Bob. Isaac's feelings for Kim lead to his downfall, as she's able to later convince him to divulge important information about the organization to federal interrogators.

After Bob returns from a mission in Macau where he was forcibly addicted to heroin, Kim quietly works to continue dosing him as long as he needs to be stable for his missions, and then works to detox him from the substance thereafter. Whilst Bob is withdrawing from the substance, he is assigned a localized mission to a hotel room where he is supposed to survey the occupants in the adjacent room. Those occupants turn out to be the Reeds, who appear to be fleeing the country following their immunity deal with the FBI. After Leon Drake meets the Reeds in their room, Kim accidentally witnesses Bob assassinate both Isaac and his wife in an alleyway. Thinking they were granted immunity for their cooperation, Kim is initially shocked by their assassination, but soon realizes they were too dangerous to be left alive. She remains at the scene explaining to law enforcement the needs that the Reeds daughter has.
